Ecuador is located in the triangle area between Colombia and Peru. The equator is through the middle and upper parts of the land. Most areas are located between the equator and 4 ° south latitude. In Spanish, "Ecuador" means the equator, and because it is rich in bananas, it is also called "the country of banana".

The terrain is high and the east-west sides are low. The Andes mountains run through the border from north to south. The highest altitude can go to 4000 meters or more. The area along this towering ridge, the area between the lower altitude (1000 meters to 3000 meters) is the place where Ecuador coffee is produced now.

Due to the prevalence of maritime trade, coffee was also introduced to Ecuador from the coast of Manabí Province in 1860, and set up a coffee plantation on the Jipijapa Zone of the province. At that time, Ecuador also planted cocoa fruits, which was one of the main economic crops at the time. Until the late 1920s, the Cocoa tree was attacked by the disease, and Ecuador's coffee industry did not expand its development, because its coastal areas and Amazon regions were rich in oil fields, and Ecuador's economy also relied on the exports of oil and minerals.
